On a warm early evening, I found myself again at the home of an amazing family. This is the fourth time I photographed the Ruf family and they were one of my very first families when I started my business. So it has been a total joy to watch the kids grow and change...and remember my name!
The evening was so Pottery Barn to me...and I loved it. Everything had a classic feel to me...the girls in seersucker (for Piper's one year session, she wore a bonnet that was to die for!), the teeter-totter, the gentle sound of squeaking swings, and even the kids... Throughout our session they were munching on the fruits of their dad's labor. They have a beautiful garden lush with berries, green beans, corn & pumpkins. And Ayden, the oldest, is tall enough to pick fruit off of the trees for the younger two...and Leyla was the perfect hostess offering me berries all evening. It was as if time was standing still there and it was the backyard that every child in America would want to grow up in.
Well, I'll quit being so nostalgic and touchy-feely and let your enjoy the pictures of this amazing family...hopefully you can feel what I felt that evening and every time I look at these photos.
Spencer & Tara, thank you for having me and thank you for your friendship. It means the world to me to be able to document your family for you...Thank you!
