I am immensely proud to be a part of the Jamie Hannah Heart Foundation. I thought I would blog about it and really try to get the word out about this wonderful organization. A little over a year ago, while I was in Austin, my best friend lost her baby. Their daughter, Jamie had undergone some amazing and groundbreaking heart surgery and a few months later, while vacationing in Maui, her heart gave out on her. Corina and Tim are some of our best friends, and both of them were in our wedding almost eight years ago. So when we heard the news, we were devastated. I've never experienced a loss like this so close to home. It was just Christmas, and she had had her 2nd birthday the month previous, so it all seemed surreal. So this past year, I have watched (from across the state) Tim and Corina not only grieve the loss of their sweet girl, but establish a foundation that honors her life and gives to other families facing congenital heart disease. Already God has used them to encourage, minister, and bless other families with their testimony and with the organization.
Jamie's Heart Foundation is having their first annual banquet fundraising dinner at the Landmark in Tacoma. Please come out and support this amazing foundation, and if you are unable to attend stop by their website anyway and check it out. Every little bit ($5 donations add up!) benefits families that are undergoing serious hardship facing congenital heart disease. The event is February 29th at 6:30 pm. Come on out, I'll be there taking pictures! And I ordered the steak--Temple Theatre has great catering :)
